Vodice at eight in the morning: flat water inside the breakwater, gulls, pine and a bit of diesel. Batu is a small motor boat rather than a big one — 37ft, three cabins, six berths — and her point is range on a short day. The Kornati channels, the walls of Šibenik and the mouth of the Krka all sit within an hour or so of each other, so you choose a cove instead of a passage plan. Right for families and mixed-ability groups who want swimming stops. Less right if you came to trim sails.

Coffee aboard, brief at the chart table, out past the breakwater.
- 10:00Into the Kornati channels
Bare stone islets, narrow passages, almost no buildings and very little shade.
- 11:30Swim stop
Anchor in a cove off Kornat. Ladder down, water clear to the bottom.
- 13:00Lunch at a konoba
Tie to a fishermen's quay. Grilled fish, bread, house wine, no menu.
- 15:30Krka river mouth
Turn inland toward Skradin. Greener water, fresh and flat, wind drops off.
- 18:30Back alongside in Vodice
Rinse off, stow gear, walk into town for dinner.
