01 · Overview
Yacht charter in Germany
Germany's charter fleet is mostly on inland water: the lakes of Mecklenburg and the rivers and canals around Berlin. There is no tide or swell, so it suits families and first-timers. Many boats on our desk here can be driven without a licence after a short briefing.
02 · The sailing grounds
The sailing grounds
Marina Müritz sits on Germany's largest lake entirely inside the country. Marina Wolfsbruch and Fürstenberg are on the lakes of northern Brandenburg, and Lübz is on the Elde. Zeuthen, just south-east of Berlin, gives access to the city's waterways. On the Baltic coast, Altefähr, on Rügen, faces Stralsund across the Strelasund.
Sailing areas on our desk:
Mecklenburg Lakes: about 50 boats

Ways to charter
Boats in Germany offer these kinds of charter (a boat can offer more than one):
Bareboat (257 boats): you skipper the boat yourself. The skipper needs a licence the operator accepts, and usually a VHF radio certificate.
Houseboats on rivers and canals can usually be driven without a boating licence after the operator's briefing. Each boat page says whether a licence is needed.
06 · What a week costs

In July, the dearest month, the middle of the fleet costs about €2,800 a week.
The cheapest tenth of boats here start from about €800 a week, and the top tenth from about €2,200.
