01 · Overview
Yacht charter in the Seychelles
The inner Seychelles are granite islands with famous beaches, giant tortoises and rare palm forests, all within a few hours' sail of each other. Almost every boat on our desk here is a catamaran, and all of them leave from one marina on Mahé. It suits a relaxed island-hopping week with some open-water sailing between the main islands.
02 · The sailing grounds
The sailing grounds
Eden Island Marina on Mahé is the base. Praslin, with the Vallée de Mai's coco de mer palms, is the usual first crossing, about 20 to 25 miles. La Digue, Curieuse, Cousin and the smaller islands around Praslin follow. Several islands are nature reserves with fees or visiting hours.
03 · Season and weather
Season and weather
Two trade-wind seasons: the north-west monsoon from about December to March and the stronger south-east trades from about May to September. April, May, October and November are the calm transition months.
04 · The fleet on our desk

We list about 110 boats in the Seychelles from 14 charter companies. All of them are catamarans. Half the boats were built in 2020 or later, and the typical boat is about 45 ft long with 5 cabins. The largest sleep guests in up to 12 cabins. The most common models here are the Lagoon 42, Leopard 45 and Lagoon 46.
05 · Ways to charter
Ways to charter
Boats in the Seychelles offer these kinds of charter (a boat can offer more than one):
Bareboat (76 boats): you skipper the boat yourself. The skipper needs a licence the operator accepts, and usually a VHF radio certificate.
Crewed (31 boats): a skipper and crew come with the boat, often with a cook or host.
Cabin charter (9 boats): you book one cabin on a shared, crewed boat rather than the whole yacht.
Skippered (3 boats): a professional skipper sails the boat with you, and you crew as much or as little as you like.
Day charter (2 boats): a single day on the water, usually with crew.
