Yacht charter in Corsica

Corsica is a big, high island, and its coast changes from red granite in the west to long beaches in the south-east. The south is the most sailed: Bonifacio's harbour sits in a narrow inlet under limestone cliffs, and the Lavezzi islands lie just offshore. The fleet on our desk here is almost entirely catamarans, which suit the shallow bays.

The sailing grounds

Boats start from Ajaccio, Propriano, Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio. From the south you can cross the Strait of Bonifacio to La Maddalena in Sardinia for a two-country week. The west coast north of Ajaccio leads to the Scandola reserve and the Gulf of Porto, protected areas where landing and anchoring are limited. Porto-Vecchio's gulf is sheltered and good for a first day.

May to early October. The mistral from the north-west and the libeccio from the south-west can both funnel hard through the Strait of Bonifacio, so plan crossings on calm days.

We list about 40 boats in Corsica from 12 charter companies. All of them are catamarans. Half the boats were built in 2024 or later, and the typical boat is about 44 ft long with 4 cabins. The most common models here are the Lagoon 42, Lagoon 46 and Excess 11.

Ways to charter

Boats in Corsica offer these kinds of charter (a boat can offer more than one):

Bareboat (32 boats): you skipper the boat yourself. The skipper needs a licence the operator accepts, and usually a VHF radio certificate.

Crewed (9 boats): a skipper and crew come with the boat, often with a cook or host.

Skippered (3 boats): a professional skipper sails the boat with you, and you crew as much or as little as you like.

What a week costs

These prices are for the boat for seven nights, taken from the 2027 offers we hold in November 2026.

In March, the cheapest month for most boats here, a well-priced boat costs about €2,800 a week and the middle of the fleet about €3,300.

In August, the dearest month, the middle of the fleet costs about €6,800 a week.

The cheapest tenth of boats here start from about €2,600 a week, and the top tenth from about €8,400.

Fuel, marina fees, the final clean and any skipper are usually extra on bareboat yachts; crewed boats include their crew. Each boat page shows what its operator includes and the live price for your dates.

Boats start from Port Tino Rossi (12 boats), Port of Propriano (10 boats), Marina Porto Vecchio (9 boats), Port de Bonifacio (8 boats) and Port Charles Ornano (3 boats). Almost every charter here starts on a Saturday.

Getting there

Corsica has four airports: Ajaccio, Figari (closest to Bonifacio and Porto-Vecchio), Bastia and Calvi. Ferries run from mainland France and Italy.
