Yacht charter in Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is the southern end of Croatia's island coast and a quieter base than Split. The islands close to the city are small and green, the distances are short, and a week can mix busy harbour towns with nights at anchor in empty bays. It also suits crews who want one long day's sail to the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro, though that means clearing customs both ways.

The Elaphiti chain begins a few miles off the harbour: Koločep, Lopud and Šipan, each with a village quay and sheltered bays. Further west, Mljet's national park has two saltwater lakes and a monastery on an islet; park fees apply. Beyond lie Korčula town and the long Pelješac peninsula, and Lastovo, a nature park out on its own. Most boats leave from ACI Marina Dubrovnik, up the Rijeka Dubrovačka inlet, so the first hour is a calm motor down to open water.

The sailing season runs from late April to October. In summer the maestral, a north-westerly sea breeze, builds most afternoons; the bura from the north-east and the jugo from the south-east can blow for a day or more outside July and August. June and September give warm water with fewer boats in the anchorages.

We list about 110 boats in Dubrovnik from 19 charter companies. The fleet is sailing yachts (50%), motor yachts and motorboats (25%) and catamarans (24%). Half the boats were built in 2022 or later, and the typical boat is about 42 ft long with 3 cabins. The largest sleep guests in up to 20 cabins. The most common models here are the Dufour 41, Sun Odyssey 410 and Oceanis 38.1.

Boats in Dubrovnik offer these kinds of charter (a boat can offer more than one):

Bareboat (84 boats): you skipper the boat yourself. The skipper needs a licence the operator accepts, and usually a VHF radio certificate.

Flotilla (33 boats): you sail your own boat in a group, with a lead boat and crew on hand to help.

Crewed (18 boats): a skipper and crew come with the boat, often with a cook or host.

Skippered (10 boats): a professional skipper sails the boat with you, and you crew as much or as little as you like.

Day charter (8 boats): a single day on the water, usually with crew.

What a week costs

These prices are for the boat for seven nights, taken from the 2027 offers we hold in November 2026.

In March, the cheapest month for most boats here, a well-priced boat costs about €1,650 a week and the middle of the fleet about €2,000.

In July, the dearest month, the middle of the fleet costs about €4,300 a week.

The cheapest tenth of boats here start from about €1,200 a week, and the top tenth from about €36,200.

Fuel, marina fees, the final clean and any skipper are usually extra on bareboat yachts; crewed boats include their crew. Each boat page shows what its operator includes and the live price for your dates.

Boats start from ACI Marina Dubrovnik (79 boats), Port Dubrovnik (12 boats), Marina Frapa Dubrovnik (10 boats) and Port Gruž (9 boats). Many boats can start on any day of the week, with Saturday the most common.

Dubrovnik airport is about 20 km south of the city, roughly 30 to 40 minutes by road to the marinas.
