Granite headlands, water the colour of a swimming pool, and by mid-afternoon the mistral fills in and the rail goes down. Barbossa is a 35ft monohull — short enough to tuck into the shallow granite anchorages, with three cabins and berths for eight. She keeps her berth at Marina di Bonaria, Cagliari. Eight aboard a 35-footer is close quarters, and we'd say so plainly: it works for a family, or two couples who already sail together. Less right for anyone wanting room to spread out.
