01 · Overview
Yacht charter in Spain
Spain gives three very different sailing areas. The Balearics are the summer favourite, the Canary Islands let you sail all year, and Catalonia combines Barcelona with the coves of the Costa Brava. The fleet on our desk here leans towards catamarans and has a large crewed and day-charter offer.
02 · The sailing grounds
The sailing grounds
In the Balearics, boats start on Mallorca and Ibiza, with Formentera, Menorca and the Cabrera national park within reach. In the Canaries, most boats are on Tenerife, with La Gomera the classic crossing. In Catalonia, the bases are in Barcelona, Sitges and on the Costa Brava.
Sailing areas on our desk:
Balearic Islands: about 260 boats
Canary Islands: about 60 boats
Catalonia: about 30 boats
03 · Season and weather

05 · Ways to charter
Ways to charter
Boats in Spain offer these kinds of charter (a boat can offer more than one):
Bareboat (254 boats): you skipper the boat yourself. The skipper needs a licence the operator accepts, and usually a VHF radio certificate.
Crewed (116 boats): a skipper and crew come with the boat, often with a cook or host.
Day charter (72 boats): a single day on the water, usually with crew.
Skippered (45 boats): a professional skipper sails the boat with you, and you crew as much or as little as you like.
Regatta (5 boats): boats prepared and entered for racing events.
All-inclusive (3 boats): crew, meals and drinks are in one price.
Flotilla (2 boats): you sail your own boat in a group, with a lead boat and crew on hand to help.
Cabin charter (2 boats): you book one cabin on a shared, crewed boat rather than the whole yacht.
