Yacht charter in France

01 · Overview

Yacht charter in France

France is two charter countries in one. Most of our fleet here are houseboats on rivers and canals, from Burgundy to the Canal du Midi and Alsace, which most people can drive without a licence after a briefing. The rest are sailing yachts and catamarans on the coast, from Brittany to Corsica.

How many charter boats are there in France?

We list about 1,300 boats in France today, from 33 charter companies. Most are houseboats. The number changes as operators add and sell boats.

When is the cheapest time to charter in France?

On the 2027 offers we hold, April is the cheapest month for a typical boat here, at about €1,850 a week for the middle of the fleet. July is the dearest, at about €2,900. Prices change as weeks book up, so check the boat pages for your dates.

Which licence do I need to charter in France?

It depends on the boat. 58% of the boats here list a licence requirement. Most houseboats on rivers and canals can be driven without one after the operator's briefing, while sailing yachts and motor yachts on the coast need a recognised skipper's licence. Each boat page says what is required.

How do I get to France?

Paris and regional airports serve the waterways, and high-speed trains reach many bases. Corsica has four airports.
