Catamaran charter questions

How much does a catamaran charter cost per week?

The typical catamaran costs a median of €4,409 a week for the whole boat. The cheapest start from €2,400, and three in four are under €6,750. Prices are live for the week you pick.

How many guests fit on a catamaran?

It depends on length. A cat of about 45 feet usually has four double cabins, so eight guests, and some saloons make up into extra beds. Above 50 feet there are often five or six cabins. Each yacht's page gives its berths.

Are catamarans easier to sail than monohulls?

Some things are easier: it sits flat, two engines make mooring simpler, and the deck is wide. Some are harder: the high sides catch a crosswind in the marina, and it points less well into the wind. Overall it asks the same skill as a monohull.

Can I bareboat a catamaran?

Yes, with the licence a sailboat needs: an ICC or RYA Day Skipper, plus VHF. Some operators also want catamaran time or a short test sail at the base, and your quote says so if they do.

Is a catamaran really more comfortable?

At anchor, clearly: it rolls far less in a swell. Under sail it feels steadier in light wind, and in a strong breeze with a short sea it is slower but smoother. Most people get seasick less on two hulls.
