01 · Overview
Yacht charter in Turkey
Turkey's south-west coast is deeply indented, with pine-covered hills, ancient ruins and sheltered bays. It is the home of the gulet, the traditional wooden motor-sailer, and Turkey has more gulets on our desk than any other country. Bareboat sailing yachts and catamarans are just as common.
02 · The sailing grounds
The sailing grounds
Bodrum is the base for the Gulf of Gökova and the Greek islands of Kos and Kalymnos across the water. Marmaris leads to the Hisarönü and Datça peninsulas and to Symi and Rhodes. Fethiye and Göcek sit at the head of a bay of twelve islands, with the Lycian coast further east. Crossing to Greece means clearing customs on both sides.

Season and weather
May to October, with a long, hot summer. The meltemi blows in the Aegean part of the coast in July and August; Göcek and the south are often calmer.
04 · The fleet on our desk
The fleet on our desk
We list about 640 boats in Turkey from about 100 charter companies. The fleet is sailing yachts (52%), catamarans (24%), gulets (19%) and motor yachts and motorboats (5%). Half the boats were built in 2019 or later, and the typical boat is about 46 ft long with 4 cabins. The largest sleep guests in up to 18 cabins. The most common models here are the Bavaria Cruiser 46, Lagoon 42 and Bavaria 46 Cruiser.
05 · Ways to charter
Ways to charter
Boats in Turkey offer these kinds of charter (a boat can offer more than one):
Bareboat (463 boats): you skipper the boat yourself. The skipper needs a licence the operator accepts, and usually a VHF radio certificate.
Crewed (170 boats): a skipper and crew come with the boat, often with a cook or host.
Flotilla (19 boats): you sail your own boat in a group, with a lead boat and crew on hand to help.
Cabin charter (15 boats): you book one cabin on a shared, crewed boat rather than the whole yacht.
Skippered (10 boats): a professional skipper sails the boat with you, and you crew as much or as little as you like.
Day charter (10 boats): a single day on the water, usually with crew.
Regatta (3 boats): boats prepared and entered for racing events.
All-inclusive (3 boats): crew, meals and drinks are in one price.
